Convene & roll call.

All

5 min

Review and approve minutes from last meeting.

All

Approved by acclamation.

5 min

See if there are any updates on:

All

  • Studio for kdb+ : Try to get a conversation going between Rob and Charlie.

  • q Insight Pad : Oleg not interested in open-sourcing at this time.

15 min

Discuss Connection Manager contribution.

  • Details mailed out on data-tech-kdb list.

All

  • It's a draft specification at this time.

    • Code readily mined from internal MSKDB offering and custom implementation built by Business Metrics team.

    • Support for retry timer.

    • Requires changes at every hopen and IPC call since it issues its own handles for accounting purposes.

    • Intention to support ZooKeeper lookup for highly distributed plants and failover requirements.

    • Think about how you, as a developer, think the API would work in real code and toss around ideas on the data-tech-kdb list.

10 min

Smaller contribution ideas?

  • Last call, dashboard integration was one idea that sounded promising.

  • That said, someone at MS had a memory issue and found AquaQ's memusage.q contribution very helpful!

  • Aim for a broader cross section of users.

All

  • Check the Aaron Davies repository for any utilities / snippets that you'd like FINOS-ified:

  • MSKDB utility to ungroup tables with string columns should be a quick win.

AOB

All

  • Recent Shakti meetup?

    • Has encryption.

    • Persistence is simpler?

      • One file per day with appending.

      • Seems like per-column schema migration of kdb+ wouldn't apply.

  • Any IDE-related utilities?

    • A couple of Emacs users, but no real Elisp utilities for kdb.

    • One IntelliJ IDEA user due to previous Java work.

      • Doesn't do 3-way diffs very well?

  • Better utilities for HTML generation?
