Guest Presentation: OSS Review Toolkit

Thomas Steenbergen (HERE Technologies)

Abstract

Thomas Steenbergen will present the OSS Review Toolkit (ORT), an open source application that assists with verifying Free and Open Source Software license compliance by checking a project's source code and its dependencies.

From a bird's eye, it works by analyzing the project's build system for dependencies, downloading the source code of the dependencies, scanning all source code for license information, and summarizing the results.

The different tools that make up ORT are designed as libraries (for programmatic use), with a minimal command line interface (for scripted use).

Presenter Bio

Thomas Steenbergen is the Head of Open Source at HERE Technologies (www.here.com), the Open Location Platform company, which enables people, enterprises and cities to harness the power of location. With over 15 years of experience in the software industry, he has held a variety of technical lead roles and worked as an engineer in Netherlands, UK and Germany. Thomas has been an active contributor to the SPDX specification since 2015, helping to make it better match what developers find in code. He is also working on open-sourced review tooling solutions within ClearlyDefined and OSS Review Toolkit projects.
