Use Cases

The Working Group will focus on the definition of common representations of financial objects within the context of specific use cases, documented here.

Proposed Use Cases

1. Alice wishes to buy 10k shares in IBM and wants a price from Bob.
2. Alice thinks oil has tested its lows and likely to rally. She wants to refer Bob to WTI (crude) and its recent price action.
3. Alice is looking for a price from Bob on some June 1800 strike puts. Alice needs to describe the instrument to Bob and Bob needs to communicate a level back to Alice.
4. Alice has done some research on the retail sector and wants to share it with Bob. She wants to tag the content with a reference to the retail sector and equities.
5. Alice has done a (voice) trade with Bob and Bob needs it to automatically flow to his back-office systems (thinking VCON here)
6. Alice wants to tell Bob that she is a buyer of 10mm of a specific 30y AAPL bond at a particular spread to the reference 30y treasury.
7. Alice wants to offer a swap to Bob from one equity into another—long 1x TSLA, short 1x F
8. Alice wants to share some information with Bob regarding a private German company that is considering an IPO. (Alice and Bob are not using the same market data provider)
9. Alice has found some interesting relative price history for two listed Italian manufacturers and wants to share her chart with Bob. (Alice and Bob are not using the same market data provider)
10. Alice has configured a "bot" to alert her when certain companies reach her set target prices. The alerts should contain a 1-week price chart.
11. Alice's company have set up a Trading Chat Room where a "bot" parses and interacts with incoming messages. She requests that Bob, Charles and David send all trade requests via this room.
