Agenda
Time | Item | Who | Notes from the Meeting |
---|---|---|---|
5 min | Convene & roll call | All | Sailesh Pandey joins the PMC by virtue of his chairing of the Security Reference Data Working Group. |
10 min | FINOS 2019. | All | Rob: The FINOS board meeting occurred on January 23rd. Rob reminded us to update the roadmaps for the PMC and the Working Groups for 2019. Also, the hope is that some WGs will be "shipping product". Alvin: For kdb+, Sam had socialized a more detailed roadmap on the data-tech-kdb mailing list. The hope is that he will have time to update the Wiki. If not, Alvin will make a first pass at it. Alvin: Also, qdoc is in the pipeline to be pushed to GitHub. Just needs some cleanup to make it more easily usable outside of Morgan Stanley. Alvin: SRD WG getting more participation. Jeffrey Stein, a key personality on the MS SRD team, dialed into the call on 2019-01-22. Going through onboarding to the FINOS platforms. Alvin: SRD is currently tackling the problem of standardizing how to link issuer data from different providers. If that can be solved, could be used to get buy-in for a Knowledge Graph working group for Machine Learning teams. |
10 min | Open Source Readiness. | All | Rob: FINOS looking to move away from Google Groups due to the controls banks have in place around that. Also looking at GitHub Pages as an alternative to Confluence. If those were to happen, it would simplify onboarding since participants would only need one ID on GitHub instead of three. Sailesh: Points out that editing tools on Wiki are more approachable than raw Markdown. Would prefer to stick to Wiki until GitHub Pages offers comparable experience or FINOS has compiled a list of recommended editing tools. Alvin: Currently renders Markdown in a Jupyter notebook before committing. Curious to try GitHub pages. Asks whether Maoo is developing tools for migrating existing Wikis. Rob: No such tools at the moment. Alvin and Sailesh: Would like to see an example of a template WG area in GitHub pages before investing too much time. |
5 min | Tools to reduce effort in writing up meeting minutes. | Rob | Rob says automatic transcription service for meetings coming. PMC / WG leads can also get access to the WebEx recordings. |
5 min | AOB & adjourn | All | New FINOS swag in the pipeline. |
Decisions Made
- Wait for GitHub pages example mini-site before attempting to migrate from Wiki.
