Standing

  • Jonathan Christensen: Update Working Group if Symphony's plan to release Symphony Electron by the end of the year changes.

From Previous Meetings

New

  • Former user (Deleted): present to WG at future meeting about DB plans for distribution of Plexus with Symphony Desktop and how Symphony authentication will be used to validate Plexus users between apps.
  • Former user (Deleted): write up the items that still need to be decided re: Symphony's container API (e.g. change management process) so they can be reviewed and approved by the WG.

Meeting notes

  • Former user (Deleted) reported that the OpenFin-Symphony connector project has been approved by ESCo.
  • Former user (Deleted) reported that the said first release of Plexus Interop is available in the SSF GitHub at https://github.com/symphonyoss/plexus-interop and requested feedback.
  • Leslie Spiro also asked Slava to present at some future meeting about :
    • Plans for distribution of Plexus with Symphony Desktop
    • How Symphony user sign on would be used to validate Plexus users.
  • The members discussed whether the Desktop Wrapper API WG was the appropriate forum for desktop interoperability discussions. Nick Kolba expressed concerns that it would distract the group from its core charter. Leslie said it seemed like the right group of people and that the group wasn't having difficulty getting through its agenda items. Nick said that there was a lot of work still required for the Desktop API, such as agreeing change management processes. At Leslie's request, Nick agreed to provide a note about the items that are still required so they can be reviewed and approved by the WG.

  • Brian Ingenito (Unlicensed) confirmed that Morgan Stanley intends to support Symphony in its desktop container.
The group then discussed a number of technical matters, including:
    • Whether to move to the HTML5 Notification API or stick with a separate SSF namespace.
    • Whether Symphony UI services like Notifications are/should be available to Symphony marketplace applications. This is not documented.
    • Whether marketplace apps would be able to register their own URI routing tags with Symphony to handle events originating in the Symphony container.
