Minutes
Will Salt gave a progress update
The team has been focusing primarily on the work that needs to be done to reach v1.
New time-of-day and boolean data types have been introduced.
The Java package structure has been refactored.
A custom generator framework has been delivered, together with a proof-of-concept to show developers how to use it.
The build process has been improved with CI processes to confirm all source files include the correct licence notice.
A proof-of-concept for connecting Data Helix to third-party data generator libraries was completed by a team member who has since left the team. This work is to be reviewed so that it can be integrated.
It was agreed that integration with non-Java libraries should be out of scope for v1.
We discussed what remains to be done before the v1 release
The main concerns are around freezing the profile schema.
There are also concerns that the documentation is sufficient for newcomers to use.
ACTION: Will to arrange a meeting to review the profile schema.
ACTION: Will to arrange a meeting to review outstanding bugs and determine which are blocking issues for the v1 release.
ACTION: Will to speak to other Scott Logic team leads to identify a developer who has not previously worked on the project, to see how straightforward they find it to download and start using Data Helix.
There was some discussion as to whether the UI would be ready for the v1 release, but it was inconclusive.
ACTION: Will to consider who could be proposed as additional resource to work on the UI.
